After an initial career as an officer in the Royal Netherlands Navy, Willy started his own consultancy business in 1990 with a focus on investment- and R&D projects. His clients included companies as Akzo Nobel, S.C. Johnson Wax, Electrolux, Crown Cork & Seal and 3M. Since 1997, he is active as entrepreneur on the field of high tech start-up companies on various technology fields, including 2 successful exits. He founded MTT in January 2003. Within MTT, his responsibilities include sales & marketing, legal- and financial affairs. |

After graduating from the Delft University of Technology, Wilfried performed his military service as an officer in the Royal Dutch Army. From 1986 till 2004, he worked at the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory in Amsterdam (NLR), latest as senior R&D manager and group leader Gas Turbines Performance and Simulation. From 2004 till 2006 he has been a management team member at Delta Consult, currently known as SKF AMS. Within MTT, Wilfried is responsible for technology- and application development of the MTT turbine. |

Luc Hamilton graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University in Eindhoven in 1987. From 1987 till 2001 he held several positions in the management of energy and technology related projects at the Energy Research Institute in the Netherlands (ECN). Since 2001, Luc was self-employed and worked as project manager for several energy projects and on a large European research project (FP6) on distributed energy. Active within MTT since 2005, Luc is responsible for project management and technical coordination between the partners. |

Mark studied on the Delft University of Technology and graduated mid 2006. From 2003 till 2004 he did his Master Thesis at the National Aerospace Laboratory on gas path analyses tools. From 2004 till 2006 he worked as part-time consultant on asset management support tools and the Gas turbine Simulation Program. Within MTT, Mark is responsible for the test program and system integration. |

After graduating cum laude on the Moscow State Aviation Institute, Savad started a PhD research programme at the Delft University of Technology on Aero Gasturbine Emission Reduction and Simulation. Since early 2006, Savad is involved in the R&D programme of the MTT turbine. After completion of his PhD studies, Savad will be responsible for the research aspects of the MTT turbine, with a focus on combustion and efficiency. |

Paul Smeets (Senior Design Engineer) Paul is responsible for structural design and analysis of the MTT micro turbines and CHP systems. Paul studied mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic college Eindhoven and graduated end 1989. In 1996 he obtained his MSc degree on Engineering and Product Design at the university of Wolverhampton. From 1989 to 2007 he worked at Van Doornes Transmission (VDT/Bosch) as senior engineer. From 2007 to 2008 he worked as design engineer at van Wees BV. |

Nicholas George (Performance Engineer) After obtaining a bachelors degree in Aeronautical from Hindustan College of Engineering (INDIA), Nicholas pursued his MSc in Thermal power (Aerospace Propulsion) at Cranfield University (UK). At Cranfield, his MSc Thesis concentrated on Intercooled - Recuperated Aero Engine’s, one of the novel engine concepts aimed to reduce emission under the European Union’s Vision 20/20 Program. Within MTT, he works on the Engine performance analysis and Turbo-machinery design. |

Dr. Viktor Kornilov (Combustion Research Engineer) Viktor (1971) is working in the field of combustion from 1998. He obtained his PhD on thermo-acoustic instability of combustion in 2006 at Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e). From 2007 he is PostDoc in Combustion Technology group at TU/e supervising research topics related to experimental methods of flame studies and combustion thermo-acoustic instability research. From 2009 he is working at MTT as combustion research engineer. Some other of his scientific interests are: particles and dust combustion, influence on combustion via (periodic) external forcing. |

Frans Duijnhouwer MSc (Mechanical Engineer) Frans graduated from in Aerospace engineering from the Delft University of Technology in 1996. From 1998 to 2003 he has worked as a technical software engineer with Atos Origin, mostly on the subject of modelling and simulation. Starting from 2003 he has been employed as a mechanical designer / engineer with an emphasis on structural analysis and simulation. Within MTT Frans is responsible for rotor dynamical modelling, simulation and analysis of the micro turbine systems.

Szymon Bieganski MSc (Electronic Engineer) After graduating from the Technical University of Lódz, Szymon joined the faculty of Electronics of Technical University of Eindhoven as a Ph.D. candidate from 2001 till 2006. From 2006 till early 2009 Szymon worked as software- and hardware engineer on several projects. Within MTT, Szymon is responsible for the power electronics- and high speed generator development of the MTT turbine applications.

Marco de Later MSc (Performance modeling) After completing his studies in Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology in 2009, Marco joined the MTT team and has specialized himself in of a performance modelling of the MTT micro turbine. Among his tasks are the improvement of the recuperator function as well as general performance aspects of the MTT turbine.

Mateusz Kurkowski (Business development manager) Mateusz graduated on the HTS in Arnhem in 2004, where he specialized in automotive management. During his graduation fase he started his professional career at Spyker Cars . Since 2006 he gained experience in sales, marketing and technology commercialization at Itonic International BV and Carver Europe BV. Within MTT Mateusz is responsible for business development activities.

Anneke Leenders (Office Manager) Anneke has studied Hotel Management and Tourism and graduated from both. After her studies she has been working in tourism, at the office and in the field. Before she started working at MTT she worked for 2 years at the TU/e. Within MTT, Anneke is responsible for the office management related activities.

Bob van Houtum BEng (Mechanical Engineer) Bob has graduated for mechanical engineering (Fontys Hogescholen in Eindhoven). He has a vast experience in mechanical engineering of machinery, being involved with the development of production machinery, custom machines, troubleshooting engineering and the implementation of CAD systems. With his wide variety in engineering skills Bob is seconded at MTT by Cematec Engineering, contributing to the development of micro CHP systems.

Ilian Dountchev (Performance Analysis) Ilian studies Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology, in the group of Gas Turbines, Propulsion and Energy Conversion of Prof. Ir. J.P. van Buijtenen. For his Master thesis he is working on the development of a performance model of the MTT micro CHP and CAP systems.

Maikel Brands (Alignment and Vibration control) Maikel studies Electrical Engineering at the TU/e within the division Systems and Control group of prof.dr.ir. A.C.P.M. Backx. Within MTT, Maikel is currently working on his Master thesis, developing an alignment control mechanism and a control mechanism to reduce the vibrations in the rotor dynamics. |

Ivo Dockx (Rotordynamic analysis) Ivo studies Mechanical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, in the group of Dynamics & Control of Prof. Dr. Henk Nijmeijer. For his Master thesis he is working on the development of a rotordynamical analysis of the MTT micro turbine to gain understanding of the rotor dynamics.

Tim Eijgelshoven (Turbine Optimization) Tim studies aerospace engineering at Delft University of Technology, in the group of Gas Turbines, Propulsion and Energy Conversion of Prof. Ir. J.P. van Buijtenen. Tim is currently working on his Master’s thesis, which is meant to identify the best possibilities to improve turbine efficiency.

Rik Hazelzet (Recuperator Optimization) Rik studies Aerospace Engineering at the Delft University of Technology, in the group of Gas Turbines, Propulsion and Energy Conversion of Prof. Ir. J.P. van Buijtenen. Rik’s Master thesis assignment concerns the development of recuperator multi-disciplinary design optimization rules for the MTT turbine.

Philip de Goey studied Theoretical Physics at the University of Nijmegen. In 1988 he received his PhD at the Department of Physics of the TU/e. Between 1988 and 1995 he was Assistant Professor (UD) and from 1995-2000 he was Associate Professor (UHD) on combustion science in the Section Energy Technology of the TU/e. Since 2000 he is Full Professor in Combustion Technology and since 2002 scientific director of the Combustion Technology Group. Within MTT, Philip is advisor on the combustion aspects of the MTT turbine. |

Rob Bastiaans obtained his Ph.D. (1997) in the field of buoyant convection flows and particle tracking velocimetry (PTV). Later on, Rob started working on combustion with a focus on modelling and turbulence/combustion interactions. Currently, Rob is an assistant professor in the group of Prof.Dr. Philip de Goey. He is also a senior visiting research fellow at the CTR, the Center for Turbulence Research at Stanford University. Within MTT, Rob works on the field of combustion modelling. |

Prof. Dr. Piero Colonna (Turbomachinery) Piero Colonna obtained a MSc at Stanford University and a PhD in Energy Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. He founded Austex Energy Consulting (Milano) in 1996, which he left in 2002 to focus on his academic career. He was appointed Assistant Professor in Energy Systems at TU Delft in 2002, and since 2004, after obtaining a VIDI grant, he became Associate Professor. Piero works for MTT as an advisor on turbomachinery modeling and system optimization. |

Mattia studied aerospace engineering on the Polytechnical University of Torino, Italy where he graduated early 2007. During this period, he studied at the Delft University of Technology and performed an initial design study for the MTT turbine compressor. Since early 2007, Mattia has accepted a PhD research position at TUDelft, where he works on the design aspects of the MTT turbine. |
