Advisory Board

MTT is actively supported by an Advisory Board in both internal matters as well as business aspects. The Advisory Board consist of members with extensive experience in the energy business, gas turbine industry and technology development.

The members are:

Ir. Hans (J.Tj.) Kerkhoven (Chairman).
Ir. Kerkhoven served as Vice President Projects and member of the Management Team of Shell Global Solutions in The Hague with a global responsibility for managing all activities within Shell Global Solutions in relation to Project Management for Oil Products- as well as the Gas Business and Shell Chemicals. The Project portfolio included several large LNG Projects and refineries worldwide with a value of some 10 billion dollars.

Mr. Kerkhoven is currently active as member of the Supervisory Board of Aker Kvaerner in The Netherlands, Chairman of the TNO Program Advisory Board and involved in several Committees of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands.

Within MTT, he is the Chairman of the MTT Advisory Board and holds the portfolio business development.


Prof. Ir. Jos (J.P.) van Buijtenen (Member).
Prof. Ir. Van Buijtenen graduated from the Delft University of Technology in 1976, as a mechanical engineer specialized in gas turbines. He was affiliated with Thomassen International for 7 years in which he was active in the design and development of a completely new gas turbine. In 1983 he joined Fokker as an aero gas turbine performance specialist. From 1985 till 2000 he was Manager System Engineering at Stork Boilers respectively Technology Manager Energy with Stork Engineers & Contractors.

Since 1990 Jos van Buijtenen is appointed part time Professor of Gas Turbine Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. Since 2001 he is involved in the establishment of a new company Tri-O-Gen bv, in which he holds the position of CEO.

Within the Advisory Board of MTT, Prof. Ir. Van Buijtenen holds the portfolio gas turbine development.


Dr. Ir. Egbert-Jan (E.J.) Sol (Member).

Dr. Ir. Sol received his PhD Technical Sciences 1983 and his MSc Mechanical Engineering 1979 at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He was vice president technology at Ericsson Telecommunicatie BV (ETM) at Rijen, the Netherlands. Initially as R&D Manager, he became board member of ETM for technology with a focus on research & development, product marketing and strategic business development and innovations at Ericsson Telecommunication in the Netherlands. Working for LM Ericsson in Sweden at Corporate Technology, he was member of the Ericsson Technology Board and the Core System Management group for 2 years.

From 1990-1998 Dr. Ir. Sol has been part-time professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology at Technology Management. Since 2004 he is Managing Director of TNO Industry in Eindhoven, and from 2005 Director Knowledge (CTO) of TNO Science and Industry, a 1000+ large R&D organisation.

Within the Advisory Board of MTT, Dr. Ir. Sol holds the portfolios technology management and distributed systems.


Ir. Hans (J.C.) Kattemölle (Member)
Ir. Kattemölle received his MSc in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Energy Technology) in 1985 at the Eindhoven University of Technology. He held several positions at ABB from 1985 till 1997. Initially working as a technical specialist, Ir. Kattemölle left ABB as International Product Manager within the Business Unit Substation Automation and Protection.

From 1997 until 2003 he was Director of AMEC SPIE Beheer BV, an installation company in the industry- and energy market. After a short period as independent consultant, Ir. Kattemölle was appointed CEO of Ingenieursbureau Wolter & Dros BV (TBI Techniek), one of the largest independent installation companies in the Netherlands, with 1.650 employees.

Within the Advisory Board of MTT, Ir. Kattemölle holds the portfolio Energy Technology and installation aspects.
